What to expect from your Xyla ADHD assessment

Just starting your journey?

If you’re just beginning to explore ADHD, the first step is to complete a self-report form. This will help you and your GP understand your symptoms and experiences. Once you’ve completed the form, book an appointment with your GP to discuss your concerns and ask them to refer you to Xyla through the NHS Right to Choose.

Already spoken to your GP?

If you’ve already had a conversation with your GP and completed your self-report form, you can now choose Xyla as your provider. Simply download our referral letter template and ask your GP to submit a referral to Xyla on your behalf. Once that’s done, we’ll take care of the rest and guide you through the process. We take a step-by-step approach to ensure every individual receives a thorough and accurate ADHD assessment.

Whether you’re just beginning your journey or are further along, our team is here to support you every step of the way…

3

Referral confirmation email

Once your GP submits the referral, we’ll send you an email to confirm that we’ve received it. From there, we’ll enroll you in our system, and our team will begin reviewing your case.

4

Pre-assessment forms

After we confirm your referral, you’ll receive additional forms to complete, helping us gather important information for your assessment. A family member or close contact will also be asked to fill out an “informant questionnaire.” Once completed, you can submit all forms online.

5

Your online ADHD assessment

You’ll be scheduled for your ADHD assessment which will take place online through our secure video platform. You’ll need a phone, laptop, or tablet, a private space to talk and up to 2 hours for the appointment

6

Your assessment outcome

In most cases, you’ll get the results of your ADHD assessment on the same day. If more information is needed, your clinician will explain the next steps.

7

Your detailed report

Within a few weeks, you’ll receive a detailed report by email or through our portal. This will include the assessment outcome, along with any helpful recommendations from our clinicians.

8

Post-diagnostic support

If you’re diagnosed and choose not to take medication, you may be invited to join a personalised post-diagnostic program. This program provides strategies and tools to support your needs, with guidance from a highly trained neurodevelopmental expert.

Meet our clinicians

At Xyla, we have a dedicated team of professionals committed to supporting you. Our experts include nurses, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, psychiatrists, and psychologists who work collaboratively to provide an accurate diagnosis and comprehensive assessment, along with exceptional post-diagnostic support.

All our clinicians are highly qualified and experienced, ensuring you receive the best care possible. We adhere to the highest standards of practice and the NICE guidelines, so you can trust that you’re in good hands.

Important information about your Right to Choose

It’s important to know that there are some situations where you cannot exercise your right to choose your service provider. You won’t be able to choose if:

  • You are receiving urgent or emergency care.
  • You are already getting treatment for the condition you’re being referred for.
  • You are in prison, temporarily released from prison, or in other specific settings (like a court, secure children’s home, secure training centre, immigration removal centre, or a young offender’s institution).
  • You are held in a hospital under the Mental Health Act 1983.
  • You are a serving member of the armed forces (but your family members in England have the same rights as other residents).

If any of these apply to you, you will not be able to directly choose Xyla as your provider at this time. If you’re unsure or have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us for a confidential discussion.

The first step starts with you

Before reaching out, we encourage you to speak with your GP about your current circumstances and the Right to Choose. If you have specific questions about Xyla’s services, please fill out the enquiry form below, and we’ll be happy to assist.
