Our services

Occupational therapy & physiotherapy in health and social care

Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy focuses on helping people carry out everyday tasks, promoting independence and improving quality of life. It prioritises prevention and early intervention, helping individuals manage their health and reducing reliance on crisis services.

By enabling people to live well for longer, occupational therapy eases pressure on health and social care systems and contributes to a more sustainable future.

Occupational therapists work across communities – in GP practices, schools, housing, care homes, and workplaces – empowering individuals to manage changing needs and reducing demand on the NHS. Their inclusion in strategic planning is essential to meet health, education, housing, and care needs.

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy helps restore movement and function when someone is affected by injury, illness, or disability, and also plays a key role in preventing future issues. Physiotherapists take a holistic view of the body, using a range of approaches including education and advice, tailored exercise programmes, and manual therapy. These techniques help relieve pain, improve mobility, and support long-term physical health.

Together, these therapies are essential to deliver integrated, person-centered care that improves outcomes and supports the wellbeing of individuals and communities.

At Xyla, we efficiently manage community OT/PT referrals and reduce waiting lists on a case-by-case basis, ensuring timely and personalised support for all our clients.

Empowering independence with tailored therapy and support

Our service covers a full range of assessments including minor and major occupational therapy assessments, moving and handling reviews, physiotherapy, and follow-up assessments.

Minor OT assessments

An evaluation of an individual’s needs for small-scale equipment that can support daily living tasks. Examples include grab rails or walkers to improve safety and mobility at home.

Major OT assessment

A more in-depth evaluation focused on significant home adaptations, such as walk-in showers or structural changes. It may also support applications for Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG) to fund necessary modifications.

Moving and handling review

Equipment review – an annual check to ensure that existing equipment remains suitable, safe, and effective for the individual’s current needs.

30-minute and 60-minute follow-ups – these follow-up visits are conducted after equipment installation or adaptations to ensure everything is functioning correctly and meeting the individual’s needs.

Physiotherapy assessment

A physiotherapy assessment involves evaluating an individual’s physical capabilities, mobility, and overall function. Based on this evaluation, a tailored treatment plan is developed to support recovery, improve movement, and manage pain or physical limitations.

30-minute and 60-minute follow-ups – follow-up sessions are typically scheduled weekly or fortnightly, depending on the individual’s progress and needs. Most cases involve between two to six sessions, allowing physiotherapists to monitor improvement, adjust treatment plans, and ensure optimal outcomes.
