Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist

Location: Hertfordshire (Stevenage, Hertford & Hemel Hempstead area)
Contract Type: Full-Time, Weekday Service
Start Date: September 2026

Xyla is supporting a community-based Paediatric Speech and Language Service in Hertfordshire and is seeking experienced Speech and Language Therapists with recent Children and Young People (CYP) experience to join an established clinical team. 

About the Role

This role involves supporting children aged approximately 2.5 to 11 years through assessment, intervention, and follow-up care. Clinicians will manage therapy programmes, monitor progress, and provide high-quality clinical documentation throughout the patient journey.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting initial speech and language assessments.
  • Developing and implementing individualised therapy plans.
  • Delivering intervention programmes tailored to each child’s needs.
  • Monitoring outcomes and reviewing progress.
  • Booking and managing follow-up appointments.
  • Completing discharge reports and maintaining accurate clinical records.
  • Working collaboratively within a supportive multidisciplinary environment.

Candidate Requirements

To be considered, applicants should have:

  • Current and recent experience working with Children and Young People (CYP).
  • Experience assessing and treating paediatric speech, language and communication needs.
  • Strong clinical reasoning and caseload management skills.
  • Excellent communication and record-keeping abilities.
  • The flexibility to work across various community clinic locations within Hertfordshire. [

Working Pattern

  • Monday to Friday
  • 08:30 to 17:00
  • 1-hour unpaid lunch break
  • Five patient appointments per clinic day
  • Dedicated administration time for clinical notes, follow-ups, and discharge documentation.

Training & Support

Successful candidates will receive service-specific training, including clinical systems training, local induction, and IT onboarding. All clinical activity is supported and overseen by an experienced senior therapist.
