Ryan Rukus

Ryan is a Head of Clinical Operations for Screening Services at Xyla, with over 24 years’ experience as a qualified nurse and a strong background in lung cancer screening and community-based healthcare delivery. He joined Xyla five and a half years ago and has played a key role in the development and delivery of its services, including leading the Lung Cancer Screening programme clinically for over two years.

In his current role, Ryan provides both clinical and operational leadership across the lung cancer screening pathway, ensuring safe, effective and high-performing service delivery. His remit spans pathway oversight, team leadership and service optimisation, supporting consistent quality and patient outcomes across large-scale screening programmes.

Prior to this, Ryan led a community team within Xyla, where he established a community rehabilitation service from the ground up and supported the delivery of winter surge capacity wards across several East Midlands community hospitals. His work focused on building responsive services that could adapt to system pressures while maintaining high standards of care.

Ryan’s wider career is rooted in community healthcare, including 11 years leading an NHS community complex care team. He has extensive experience managing multidisciplinary teams, delivering care closer to home and shaping services that meet the needs of diverse populations.

He is passionate about designing and delivering services that are accessible, responsive and grounded in the realities of the communities they serve.
