Charlotte Walker

Health and Wellbeing Coach and Engagement Lead, Xyla

Charlotte Walker is a Health and Wellbeing Coach and Engagement Lead at Xyla, with a degree in sport and exercise nutrition and a background spanning the National Diabetes Prevention Programme and NHS-commissioned community health delivery across multiple regions. She joined the Healthier Futures team in East Riding of Yorkshire four years ago and has been central to the programme’s growth and development since its launch.

In her current role, Charlotte leads both frontline health coaching and community engagement across East Riding, one of England’s largest and most geographically varied unitary authorities. She delivers across Xyla’s smoking cessation, adult weight management, family health and NHS Health Checks programmes, working with individuals and communities across a wide range of settings and circumstances. Her remit includes direct one-to-one coaching, group sessions, school-based health education and outreach to populations that standard referral pathways rarely reach.

Charlotte has developed particular expertise in community relationship-building and programme adaptation, working with groups including veterans, carers, people with serious mental illness and families managing food insecurity. She is known for her on-the-ground approach to engagement, prioritising face-to-face presence and trusted local partnerships over digital-first outreach.

She is passionate about designing and delivering health programmes that reflect the realities of people’s lives rather than assuming a baseline that many communities simply don’t have.

“Behaviour change is rarely about information. Most people know smoking is bad for them or that they’d benefit from losing weight. What actually moves people is feeling that someone understands their situation and is genuinely in their corner. When you get that right, the change follows.”
