About the Role

We are currently recruiting experienced Decontamination / Sterile Technicians to support a busy Endoscopy Unit. This is an excellent opportunity to join a professional clinical team and play a vital role in ensuring patient safety through the highest standards of endoscope decontamination and infection prevention.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the cleaning, disinfection, storage, and tracking of endoscopic equipment used across a range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Endoscopy Services Supported

  • Gastroscopy
  • Colonoscopy
  • Flexible Sigmoidoscopy

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and process used endoscopes following clinical procedures.
  • Carry out manual cleaning and high-level disinfection processes in accordance with local and national guidelines.
  • Operate Automated Endoscope Reprocessors (AERs).
  • Inspect endoscopes for damage, functionality, and cleanliness.
  • Maintain accurate tracking and traceability records for all scopes and associated equipment.
  • Ensure all endoscopes meet strict infection control and quality standards before reuse.
  • Safely store decontaminated scopes and prepare them for clinical use.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks on decontamination equipment and report faults promptly.
  • Support compliance with hygiene, health & safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with Endoscopy Nurses, Clinical Staff, and Management teams to maintain efficient departmental workflows.

Requirements

Essential

  • Previous experience working within a healthcare decontamination or sterile services environment.
  • Experience handling and processing flexible endoscopes.
  • Knowledge of infection prevention and control procedures.
  • Understanding of endoscope traceability requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
  • Previous experience within an Endoscopy Unit. ( 1 year minimum).
