Right to Choose: Xyla ADHD assessments

Xyla offers timely, high-quality ADHD assessments for children and young people through a referral from their GP, giving you more control and the personalised care you deserve.

What to expect

Whether you’re just beginning your journey or are further along, our team is here to support you every step of the way…

3

Referral confirmation email

Once your GP submits the referral, we’ll send you an email to confirm that we’ve received it. From there, we’ll process your child’s referral, and our team will begin reviewing their case.

4

Pre-assessment forms

After we confirm their referral, you’ll receive additional forms to complete, helping us gather important information prior to their assessment. You will be asked to fill out an “informant questionnaire”.

5

Your ADHD assessment

Your child will be scheduled for their ADHD assessment which will take place face to face in one of our clinics in the Herefordshire and Worcestershire. The assessment will take between 2-3 hours.

6

Your assessment outcome

Their clinician will carefully review all the information gathered from the assessment and questionnaires, and will then prepare a clear and detailed diagnostic report for you and your child.

7

Your report and feedback session

Their clinician will arrange a separate feedback session to share the diagnosis. You’ll then receive a detailed report that outlines the outcome of the assessment and includes helpful recommendations tailored by our clinical team.

8

Post-diagnostic support

Following diagnosis your child’s clinician will discuss appropriate post-diagnostic support which may be in the form of psycho-education or medication.

Important information about your Right to Choose

It’s important to know that there are some situations where you cannot exercise your right to choose your service provider. You won’t be able to choose if:

  • You are receiving urgent or emergency care.
  • You are already getting treatment for the condition you’re being referred for.
  • You are in prison, temporarily released from prison, or in other specific settings (like a court, secure children’s home, secure training centre, immigration removal centre, or a young offender’s institution).
  • You are held in a hospital under the Mental Health Act 1983.
  • You are a serving member of the armed forces (but your family members in England have the same rights as other residents).

If any of these apply to you, you will not be able to directly choose Xyla as your provider at this time. If you’re unsure or have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us for a confidential discussion.
