Job role: Paramedic – Fully Mobile Respiratory Service
Location: West Hertfordshire:

Contract Details:
• Schedule: Monday – Friday
• Contract Duration: 17 weeks of continuous activity starting 10th February 2025.
**Candidates MUST be a car driver and have access to own transport**
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Prevention of hospital admission and facilitation of early supported discharge, including virtual hospital assessments in patients’ homes.
• Chronic disease management, particularly COPD and Asthma.
• Clinical tasks including:
o Phlebotomy.
o Point-of-care testing (e.g., BMs, Blood for CRP, Nasal viral swabs).
o Observations and history taking using NEWS2.
• Managing O2 therapy at home and nebulisers.
• Sound clinical decision-making regarding hospital admission vs. home safety.
• Following clinical protocols and administering exacerbation medication via PGDs (antibiotics and oral steroids).
• Team collaboration with nurses and physiotherapists, alongside autonomous work.
• Comprehensive understanding of co-morbidities, particularly cardiac and diabetic chronic care.
• Delivering long-term respiratory condition management to influence acute care.
• Travel across a large area using a personal vehicle (9–5, Monday to Friday).
Training Requirements:
• Completion of SystmOne training.
• On-site orientation and face-to-face team training (dates provided by the Trust).
Administrative Duties:
• Updating all patient notes on SystmOne.
• Completing follow-up letters for patients and referrers.
