Location: Edinburgh

Contract Type: Weekend and weekday shifts available

Start Date: May 2026

Contract Duration: Ongoing

Salary: Competitive remuneration package, reflecting consultant level expertise and responsibilities.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Consultant Dermatologist to join Xyla Services for an exciting new service in Lothian, delivering high-quality Medical and Surgical dermatology services to both private and NHS patients.

Candidates must have held either a substantive NHS consultant post or a long-term locum consultant post (defined as two years or more within the same NHS Trust) and be CCT registered. Ideally they would have at least one year’s experience working in tele-dermatology, specifically in skin cancer services, and be an active member of a local NHS multidisciplinary team within their substantive or host trust.

The successful candidate will play a key role in providing consultant-led dermatology care, including the management of NHS-referred patients (e.g., via NHS contracts such as e-Referral Service and insourcing pathways), while maintaining the highest standards of clinical governance, patient safety, and service efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of one year on the specialist register
  • Proven experience as a Dermatologist
  • Availability to work on weekends and weekdays

Working with Xyla Healthcare Services

Xyla Healthcare Services, a national healthcare delivery partner working in close collaboration with the NHS to improve access to high quality, consultant led care. We deliver dermatology services across hospital, community and virtual settings, supported by robust clinical governance and mature operational infrastructure.

As a substantively employed Consultant Dermatologist, you will be an integral part of Xyla’s consultant body, contributing not only to the delivery of safe and effective patient care, but also to the ongoing development, quality and sustainability of services. Our model provides the stability, professional support and influence often not available in short term or sessional roles, enabling consultants to practise at their best while shaping the future of care delivery.

Xyla provides a modern, well equipped clinical and digital working environment, with streamlined pathways and dedicated nonclinical support, allowing consultants to focus on clinical excellence, leadership and continuous improvement.

Benefits of Substantive Employment with Xyla Services

  • Competitive remuneration package, reflecting consultant level expertise and responsibilities.
  • Flexible working arrangements, supporting portfolio careers, work–life balance and sustainable practice.
  • Access to established administrative, operational and clinical support infrastructure, reducing nonclinical burden.
  • Clear clinical and professional governance arrangements, including Responsible Officer oversight, appraisal and revalidation support.
  • Opportunities to play an active role in service development, pathway redesign and clinical leadership, including digital and teledermatology models.
  • Support for continuing professional development (CPD), appraisal and professional growth within a national consultant community.
  • The professional security and continuity of being part of a substantively employed consultant workforce, with the ability to influence standards, culture and quality over time.
  • Payment can be processed via LTD Company.
