Due to a waiting list of community assessments awaiting completion, an East Midlands Council commissioned Xyla in October 2021 to help alleviate some of the pressure on their workforce. With many local authorities seeing a rise in their waiting lists (largely due to the impact of the pandemic), we understood that tight timeframes for completion of such projects were a key factor.
Within a six-month timeframe, we completed 209 community assessments, covering physical disabilities, learning disabilities, mental health and older people. Of the cases that were allocated to us, we also screened out 85 cases which were determined to no longer require assessment.
We’re delighted to say that, due to the quality and timeliness of the work completed and due to a shift in priority, Xyla, adapted their workload to focus on hospital discharge assessments. We were allocated 119 hospital discharge assessments to complete, of which we were able to screen out 37 cases no longer requiring review.
All such cases were quality assured prior to being returned to the Council to ensure compliance with the Care Act and quality of work to which we strictly hold ourselves to, and we’re pleased to hold a 97% rate of acceptance on first submission.
