Over the past 4 months our Low Calorie Diet programme has helped over 1,500 individuals to support a healthier lifestyle, weight loss, and remission of Type 2 diabetes.

The 12-month programme comprises a period of total diet replacement, followed by food reintroduction and weight maintenance phases, with service users supported throughout by a qualified Diabetes Practitioner. 73% of service users who start the programme complete the full 12 months, with an average weight loss of 12kg during this time.

Recent changes to initial stages of the programme include, onboarding calls to include motivation techniques to help overcome any initial concerns/barriers on the programme and also increasing the contact attempts from three to five.

We are currently working in partnership with a number of Integrated Care Boards to trial the use of iplato. The platform supports us to invite service users to a face to face patient information session where a qualified de-prescriber will be on hand to complete the referral in the session. We are also continuing to host regular patient information sessions for prospective eligible service users, reducing the pressure on Primary Care.

Xyla currently delivers the NHS Low Calorie Diet pilot programme in Derbyshire, Frimley, Greater Manchester, North Central and East London, West Yorkshire, Kent and Medway, Sussex, Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.
